details What support is included in our 90 day inclusive cover
We include unlimited telephone and remote support to help with any problems
or configuration issues which might occur. We also monitor performance of
the server to ensure it is running at peak efficiency.
What happens after the 90
day period has finished
We can offer a variety of
support packages to suit your requirements and budget. If
a support package is agreed when the package is purchased it
could qualify for a 50% discount over our normal rates.
Is any disruption to our business likely during the installation?
This depends on your current
business practises. Some disruption is inevitable but with
our extensive experience we shall ensure that it is kept to a
minimum.
We have third party software we need to install
Before installing the new server you should contact the software suppliers to
ensure that their software is compatible with SBS2003 and the rest of your
network after installation. New versions of the software may be required
and your service agreements with the suppliers may need to be updated.
Installation of third party software is not included in the package,
however we will be pleased to advise you, and may be able to install the
software for a small additional charge.
How much technical ability is required to manage the new server
Microsoft have improved the
management of SBS2003 with enhanced monitors and wizards for
common tasks. Routine tasks such as adding new users have
been simplified, however this is still a very complex product
which is why we offer extended support packages.
I would like a higher specification server
The server included in the package is in our experience optimum for a typical
10 user system. If you feel you need a more powerful system to run
specific software or to allow for future development, we can quote for such a
system. All our servers are custom build and are specified to suit the
individual customers needs.
We would normally discuss your hardware and software needs before a final
specification was drawn up.
We have a server - Can that be used?
Very possibly. Give us the make, model and specification of your
current server and we can advise if it is suitable for SBS2003 or can be
upgraded to make it suitable.
We already have a working sever and operating system - Can you migrate it
to the new SBS server?
The bundle price does not include migration from another server.
However with our extensive experience we are able to offer a number of migration
services. Please contact us to discuss your requirements in more detail.
We need less or more than 10 users
Licenses for SBS2003 are sold in units of five. Therefore if you have
eight users you will need to purchase ten user licenses, the same applies to the
anti-virus and spyware products. The maximum number of users for SBS2003
is 75. If you would like a quote for a different number of users please
contact us on 0870 990 8039.
What infrastructure do I need to be in place before installation of the
server
You will need a workstation for each user, a
network switch and cabling to link each workstation to the server and a
Router & Firewall. You will need to have
broadband installed. If you do not have any of these then we would be happy
to advise and supply the missing components. Alternatively you may opt for a
full or partial wireless (Wifi) network which will require additional hardware.
If required we can supply and fit any additional hardware.
Our engineers can visit your site to assess the suitability of your current
computer systems, this may however incur a small charge.
What operating systems can use on my workstations
We recommend only using systems with Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional
only. We can no longer offer support on Windows 95, 98 or NT although
these operating system can to linked to an SBS2003 server. Microsoft XP
Home will not connect to a domain server and should not be purchased for any
SBS2003 system.
"Many PC suppliers including a very well known
international one quote lower headline prices for their machines by offering
Windows XP Home. In spite of this they will recommend XP Pro. Should you
purchase a machine with XP Home it will NOT attach to your domain and you have
to purchase an expensive upgrade. Don't bother to try to get it changed they
will not do it! Unfair - Yes but it happened to several customers we are aware
of.
Do I need Microsoft Office on my workstations?
Technically you do not need any version of Office, SBS2003 is supplied with
Outlook 2003 which allows email, fax and collaborative working such as shared
calendars. However to get the best from SBS2003 you should have office
installed preferably Office 2003. Older versions and other office suites
such as open office will work very satisfactorily.
Must I have a broadband connection?
Yes. To provide remote support we need a broadband connection. The
number and size of the downloads required for running SBS2003 and the other
software used make a broadband connection vital. If you do not yet have a broadband connection we would be happy to advise.
Will you document our system
We will provide a documentation pack after the installation, which will
provide details of the work done and the configuration of the server.
Why are there Standard and Premium versions of SBS2003?
This is a marketing device by Microsoft to offer a lower cost package which
will suit the majority of business's, while charging for the more advanced
features.

Unless you need to run SQL databases then the Standard version should be
suitable for most customers. We would normally expect to establish this
requirement during our initial consultation phase.
Can you supply the Premium version?
Yes we can. Adding SBS2003 Premium to the package will cost an
additional £362 + VAT (for any number of users).
I see SBS2003 includes a shared FAX service will you install it?
SBS2003 does include a shared FAX service which enables user to send and
receive faxes from their workstations. However with the increasing use of
email we have much less interest in this service and to reduce costs setup of
this service is not included in the package. If you would benefit from
this services we can configure it for an additional charge.
I would like Terminal services for our remote staff
Terminal services in application mode which
allows users to run programs can not be run of an SBS server. We can
supply a Terminal Services server as part of your SBS network and setup applications and
users to make full use of all Terminal Services features. Please contact
us on 0870 990 8039 to discuss your requirements and obtain a quotation.
Can you supply reference
site
Yes we can. Please
contact us and we will provide reference sites for both support
and installation.
